Self Critique Writeup:
Since the beginning of the semester, I have noticed a rather good improvement with my overall animation skills. In the beginning, I had trouble getting used to the basics of Maya’s animating platform: spacing, timing, and a little squash and stretch. This is noticeable in the ball animations and the walking animation. But, as I progressed further into the semester, I started to get a better grasp of how to set up my frames and how to utilize the appropriate timing and spacing. Aside from that, the other thing that I initially struggled with, and still do a little today, are the small movements of the different parts of the body; the subtleties.
Currently, as I write this, I am seeing an overall improvement in the areas of which I struggled in; however, I can always still improve in said areas. I will focus on the small movements and human characteristics of models in the future, and I will continue to add principles of animation to my works. Some of these include squash and stretch, anticipation, and even framing. This will help me advance in the basic 3D animation world and will also help in other areas of animation like 2D.
